Owner of Four Seasons Hotel Arrested on suspicion of fraudulent use of promotional signs

February 19, 2012 (www.hospitalitybusinessnews.com) According to Cambrian News Online an Aberystwyth hotelier has been arrested by police on suspicion of fraudulent use of AA accreditation signs.

Police arrested, and then released Emyr Tudfor Davies, who runs the Four Seasons Hotel in Portland Street, until early March pending the results of their inquiry.

The Hotels' web site states that the Four Seasons is “a town centre three star rated hotel with ample private parking. This recently refurbished hotel has sixteen en-suite bedrooms, all tastefully re-decorated and offering tea & coffee facilities, television, hairdryer, toiletries and fresh towels daily. The Four Seasons offers private conference facilities for up to 30 people and also has its own restaurant serving lunches and evening meals. A fully licensed bar and lounge area, along with a sunny court yard seating area ensures that a stay at the Four Seasons will be both relaxing and invigorating.”

According to the article, a long-standing sign outside the hotel indicates the Four Seasons has AA two-star and WTB three-star accreditations.

An AA spokeperson said: “The AA has been working with Ceredigion’s Trading Standards section. We can confirm that the Four Seasons is not AA recognised, and as such are not entitled to display AA signage/logos, or make any reference to the AA.”

Mr Davies said: “I have owned the Four Seasons for seven years and the Queensbridge for some 10 years. The AA signs have been there historically - nobody has ever taken issue over them.”
