The Bahamas to launch wage and productivity survey with IDB support

Nassau - January 14, 2012 (www.hospitalitybusinessnews.com) The Bahamas Department of Statistics, with technical support from the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), has launched a national wage and productivity survey to gather information from employers at 600 organizations across major industries in the Bahamas.

The project will provide essential data for the effective planning and efficient implementation of both national and employer-based policies to develop effective training programs and to increase the labor force’s skills base and productivity.

Christmas in the Canadian Rockies

Calgary Canada December 29, 2011 (www.hospitalitybusinessnews.com) We have spent the past week here in Calgary and last night we were at the Fairmont Banff Springs Hotel. A majestic property over looking mount Rundel. The hotel was built by Canadian Pacific Railway and then became part of Canadian Pacific Hotels. The original hotel opened in June 1888. Since then there have been numerous renovations and additions making the hotel one of the top in Canada. I worked at the hotel in 1982-1983 in the accounts department.

Caribbean hotels to become more energy efficient with IDB grant

Nassau The Bahamas (www.hospitalitybusinessnews.com) Oct. 14, 2011 -- The Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) approved a US$2 million grant to the Caribbean Hotel Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Action – Advanced Program (CHENACT-AP). The grant will be used to help the tourism sector in Barbados, Jamaica, The Bahamas, Suriname, Trinidad and Tobago, Belize, Haiti, Dominican Republic and Guyana to become more energy efficient.
